Monday Crafty Fun

Over the weekend I made a new banner for my blog.  Do you like it?  I sure do!

Yesterday I had sewers block.  I had all day to sew apart from catching up on laundry so I went down to my sewing room, sat down, and thought… ok, what should I do?  It’s funny to me how that can happen even though you have tons of plans and works in progress!

Well, of course, I didn’t sit there too long!  I joined a really fun swap over at Sew Delicious

sweet pouch swap 2

You make a zippered pouch – whatever fun style you want – and fill it with goodies.  Candy plus other stuff if you want.  It’s an international swap so you just might get some really fun international goodies!  Thanks, Ros, for the fun swap!  Can’t wait!

With zippered pouches in mind (though this is not the one for the swap!) I decided to play and make a coin purse with some cute scrap strips I had left over from a charm pack.  The rest of the pack went to baby doll quilts.    I think it turned out cute! Don’t you?  Here is a tutorial, if you’d like to make one, too.

After that I worked on a block for a pattern I am working on.  As soon as I can, I’ll be sharing that!

I also tried out a new crochet technique last night.  Not crazy about the yarn…. I just used some scrap yarn.  Wednesday I’m going to pick up some good yarn and give it another go. It is a fun stitch!  Here’s a tutorial for that if you’d like to try it!  Let me know if you have any questions or need any help!

Finally, somewhere I saw this GREAT technique for making your own crispy taco shells!  Put your corn tortillas in a covered container and microwave for 1 minute – or until shells are soft and can fold in half without splitting.

Brush each side lightly with vegetable oil or you could spray with cooking spray.  Hang on rack in oven.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until shells are crispy.

Yay! Thanks for joining the swap – so great to have you! Love that coin purse – I have some yardage of that top fabric with the snails and turtles, in yellow. It’s a cute one that has been in my stash for ages, I must use it!
