Half-Square Triangle Progress and Cherry Pie

A cardinal in my back yard!

Wow, it’s Thursday already!  I don’t know how the week passed so quickly.  Good week, though.  My mom got in yesterday for a visit from New York so we will be checking out some St. Louis sights this week.

I’ve been busy with my half- square triangle quilt for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival. I decided to change it up and make it bigger.  I have a large area completed but I need to do the bottom and I’m going to make it bigger all the way around.  I really love it!

Half-Square Triangle Quilt

Progress so far!

Well, that’s all for now! I’ll leave you with my recipe for cherry pie.  Have a great day!

Lattice Cherry Pie

  • 4 cups cherries (pitted)
  • 1-1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 pie crust

Step 1
Place cherries in a saucepan with 1-1/4 cups sugar, 4 tbsp. cornstarch, and vanilla. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until thickened.
Step 2
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 3
Add bottom pie crust to pie plate. Pour cherry mixture into crust and dot with butter.
Step 4
Cut remaining crust into strips and weave over top of pie. Trim and flute edges. Sprinkle with sugar.
Step 5
Cover edges of pie with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
